Tag Rugby

Overview of planning for Tag Rugby:

Year 3 Tag Rugby Lesson Plans = Focused on running with the ball. Understanding how to pass and receive a Rugby ball in a tag game scenario. Investigating additional ways to pass the ball, such as the loop pass.

Year 4 Tag Rugby Lesson Plans = Focused on learning how to attack and defend in both a 1 v 1 and 2 v 1 scenario. Exploring how to change pace and direction whilst carrying the ball. How to support run and how to time passes effectively in a 2 v 1 situation.

Basketball

Overview of planning for Basketball:

Dodgeball

Overview of planning for Dodgeball:

Year 3 Dodgeball Lesson Plans = Focused on throwing underarm and overarm accurately. Learning to catch low and high dodgeballs in game situations.

Year 4 Dodgeball Lesson Plans = Focused on learning how dodge balls travelling at low or medium heights. Developing skills required to effectively deflect a dodgeball travelling towards them. Utilizing the snatch throw as an effective method to attack in Dodgeball.

Year 5 Dodgeball Lesson Plans = Focused on understanding the attacking and defending principles of Dodgeball in small sided games. Specifically understanding what depth, tempo, improvisation, mobility and communication are and how they are used to maximize success. Understanding the rules of Dodgeball and the individual court areas, specifically the dead zone.

Year 6 Dodgeball Lesson Plans = Focused on developing our application of attacking and defending skills in Dodgeball and applying them in game situations. Learning to referee in games and accurately keep score. Demonstrating the ability to evaluate our own, and other peoples, performance.

Flag Football

Overview of planning for Flag Football:

Year 3 Flag Football Lesson Plans = Gaining an introduction to the sport of Flag Football, specifically how to throw and receive a pass. Additional skills are explored, such as taking a hand off and pitch and running specific running lines such as a hitch route. Understanding the ready position and being able to accelerate from this.

Year 4 Flag Football Lesson Plans = Focused on learning how to attack and defend in Flag Football, both from a running play and throwing play perspective. Exploring how to change pace and direction whilst running with the ball. Learning additional running lines in attach, such as the cut route.

Year 5 Flag Football Lesson Plans = Focused on understanding a playbook and how to interpret set attacking plays and carry them out in a game. Understanding the defending principles of Flag Football, specifically being able to identify Zonal and Man defence.

Year 6 Flag Football Lesson Plans = Focused on developing our application of attacking and defending skills in Flag Football and applying them in game situations. Developing our own attacking plays and transferring these into games. Learning to officiate in games and evaluate our own, and other peoples, performance.

Cricket

Overview of planning for Cricket:

Year 3 Cricket Lesson Plans = Focused on accurately throwing the ball both underarm and overarm and being able to catch balls received at different heights. Understanding how to use the long barrier to improve success when stopping a ball travelling on the floor. Investigating ways to strike a ball off a tee with accuracy.

Year 4 Cricket Lesson Plans = Focused on improving underarm and overarm throwing technique whilst moving in a game situation. Exploring the front foot drive and being able to strike a drop fed ball to different target areas. Introduction to the mechanics of bowling and how the technique starts to be developed.

Year 5 Cricket Lesson Plans = Focused on understanding the attacking and defending principles of Cricket in small sided games. Understanding what an attacking and defensive field is and how they are used to maximize success. Exploring the difference between attacking and defending when batting. Beginning to explore playing shots with a cross bat, such as the hook shot. Improving bowling skills to begin to focus on line and length.

Year 6 Cricket Lesson Plans = Focused on developing our application of attacking and defending skills in Cricket and applying them in game situations. Learning to umpire and keep score in games. Demonstrating ability to evaluate our own, and other peoples, performance.

Rounders

Overview of planning for Rounders:

Year 3 Rounders Lesson Plans = Focused on accurately throwing the ball both underarm and overarm and being able to catch balls received at different heights. Tennis

Overview of planning for Tennis:

Year 3 Tennis Lesson Plans = Focused on understanding the ready position and being able to make controlled contact between the ball and the racket. Developing skills to be able to hit a self fed forehand and backhand with accuracy and control.

Year 4 Tennis Lesson Plans = Focused on using our feet to get into the optimum position to strike a ball. Developing our forehand and backhand technique to be able to accurately return balls fed from a partner. Exploring skills required to return forehand and backhand volleys fed from a partner with accuracy and control.

Year 5 Tennis Lesson Plans = Focused on understanding the attacking and defending principles of Tennis in small sided games, specifically looking at how we use the width and depth of the court. Defensively, we explore the importance of returning to the centre of the court after each shot. Developing the skills required to serve a ball over a net.

Year 6 Tennis Lesson Plans = Focused on developing our application of attacking and defending skills in Tennis and applying them in game situations. Learning to umpire and keep score in games. Demonstrating ability to evaluate our own, and other peoples, performance. Increasing our serving skills by focusing on serving across the court and over the net.

Floor Gymnastics

Overview of planning for Floor Gymnastics:

Year 3 Floor Gymnastics Lesson Plans = Focused on executing a teddy bear roll, dish balance and stork stand with correct form and technique. Being able to execute a star jump from apparatus and land safely and securely. Executing a forwards and backwards straight leg linking step with correct form and technique. Demonstrating basic counter balances with a partner both on the floor and on apparatus.

Year 4 Floor Gymnastics Lesson Plans = Focused on executing a shoulder balance and side roll with correct form and technique. Being able to execute a half turn and full turn jump from apparatus and land safely and securely. Executing a bent leg linking step with correct form and technique. Demonstrating advanced counter balances with one partner off the ground and a 4 person group balance. Producing a 7 piece sequence of all skills acquired.

Year 5 Floor Gymnastics Lesson Plans = Focused on executing a forward roll and arabesque with correct form and technique. Being able to execute a tuck jump from apparatus and land safely and securely. Executing a full spin linking step with correct form and technique. Demonstrating dynamic movements using a partner as an obstacle and producing a 5 person group balance. Producing a 10 piece sequence of all skills acquired.

Year 6 Floor Gymnastics Lesson Plans = Focused on executing a backwards roll and a head stand with correct form and technique. Being able to execute a straddle jump from apparatus and land safely and securely. Executing a cartwheel linking step with correct form and technique. Demonstrating dynamic movements using apparatus as an obstacle and produce a 6 person group balance. Producing a 14 piece sequence of all skills acquired. Demonstrating ability to evaluate our own, and other peoples, performance.

Rhythmic Gymnastics

Overview of planning for Rhythmic Gymnastics:

Year 3 Rhythmic Gymnastics Lesson Plans = Focused on demonstrating the ability to bounce a ball at a variety of heights whilst stationary. Using a ribbon to create vertical and horizontal spirals. Being able to skip with a hoop, both stationary and whilst travelling and being able to skip with a rope whilst travelling forward. Producing a 5 piece sequence showing some of the skills developed in the unit.

Year 4 Rhythmic Gymnastics Lesson Plans = Focused on demonstrating the ability to bounce a ball at a variety of heights whilst travelling and being able to move it from one hand to another across the body. Using a ribbon to create a swing and snake. Being able to swing a hoop overhead whilst passing it from hand to hand and being able to throw and catch it whilst stationary. Demonstrating the ability to skip with a rope whilst jogging forward. Producing a 7 piece sequence showing some of the skills developed in the unit.

Year 5 Rhythmic Gymnastics Lesson Plans = Focused on demonstrating the ability to roll a ball from one hand to another across the chest, as well as rolling it down the back from the neck and catching it behind the back. Using a ribbon to create a swing and snake and execute them whilst travelling. Being able to throw and catch a hoop whilst travelling and perform different movements whilst the hoop is in the air. Demonstrating the ability to perform a helicopter rope swing with correct technique and fluidity. Demonstrating a stag leap with correct form. Producing a 10 piece sequence showing some of the skills developed in the unit.

Year 6 Rhythmic Gymnastics Lesson Plans = Focused on demonstrating the ability to throw and catch a ball whilst stationary and travelling, completing different movements when the ball is in the air. Execute a 2 foot to 1 foot jump whilst moving a ribbon. Being able to rotate a hoop around different parts of the body, whilst stationary and travelling. Demonstrating the ability to skip backwards with a rope and also execute a helicopter rope swing with fluidity whilst travelling. Execute a cat leap with correct form and technique. Producing a 14 piece sequence showing some of the skills developed in the unit.
